During our sightseeing Journey of Bogota, lunch is scheduled at Monserrate. Monserrate is a mountain that rises 10,340 feet above sea level in the city center of Bogota. It was established as a hermitage retreat in the name of Monserrat's Morena Virgin with a church and shrine devoted to "El Senor Caido" (Fallen Lord), situated at the top.
There are two ways to reach the top, by climbing/hiking or by funicular....we chose the latter.

On the way to the funicular, pretty colorful street in Bogota
Same for the stores along the side of the road
In the Funiculaire, built in 1928
I am accustomed to the Swiss' funicular system with a backup brake; here, nothing, if the cable were to snap, we would be in for a rough ride.
We are approaching the point of no-return...
then we enter a tunnel
Pretty exciting top of the mountain, but today we are in the clouds and its very wet.
