A "Radar" Celebration at El Cielo in Bogota

Now that the plane is ready to go and the weather is good for tomorrow, its time for a celebration!

Chris Carlson recommended the restaurant "El Cielo" with no details on what to expect.I have been to many restaurants in my life, all over the world, but this one was a totally new experience for me.

First, the menu. It is not what you expect. The only choice is a "Degustation Menu" with a choice between the 1.5 hour (12 course) experience or the 2.5 hour (15 course) version.

We chose the 12 course option. Then we were in for the "ride" of a life time. Hopefully our experience will translate well through the pictures - it was incredible.

We are first required to wash our hands. They bring out compressed towels presented in a shell with a pair of tweezers. We are told to grab our tightly rolled towel with the tweezers and dip it into the water before unfolding it to use on our hands.

Then comes the experience of "Eau de Rose," a pink substance presented in a bowl. If you try to move your finger through it, it stops but if you do it slowly you can get through.
Then it is poured on our hands, same feeling, looks like a paste or a liquid....amazing..after playing with the "thing" we bring our hands above a bowl and water is poured over to rinse...the substance disappears, your hands are clean and very smooth

Next step: The "Bliss Effect"

the whole table is engulfed in white smoke...

The wine selection, a Malbec from Argentina, and a unique demonstration on how to use a decanter.

The chicken a la "Poulp Ink"

The local bread served on a Tree

Dessert , at least I made it through dinner without any stains!

a Happy foursome, ready to rejoin the rest of the group enjoying the Amazon cruise, tomorrow.
